BE A BUDDY
Be A Buddy is a program designed to prepare the community for future climate events through climate health education and community preparedness. The program aims to have local volunteers help those most at-risk residents and educate the community about climate preparedness. In case of a climate-related emergency such as a heat wave, local residents will contact those registered into the network to assist them, alert them and provide guidance to services.
This is an initiative led by the THE POINT CDC, in partnership with the NYC Dept of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Mayors Office of Resiliency, the NYC Office of Emergency Management and the Fund for Public Health NY. Fernando Ortiz was the Project Leader for the BAB program at THE POINT CDC.
